Arsenal set to lose a promising striker as Inter Milan and AC Milan enters the pursuit of the young star.
Italian giants Inter Milan have set their sights on Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun, ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, according to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport.
AC Milan, the cross-city rivals of Inter Milan, have been closely monitoring the 21-year-old player since his youth days at Arsenal. They have continued to keep an eye on him, with his impressive performances at Reims attracting renewed interest.
Balogun has been on loan at the Ligue 1 club since last summer and has been a crucial player in their unbeaten run of 19 games. He has scored 16 goals and provided one assist in 26 league games, catching the attention of top European clubs.
The Gunners academy graduate is currently valued at €25 million by his parent club, but his impressive performances could drive his price up further.
Inter Milan may need to replace their two star strikers, Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku, in the upcoming season. Thus, they have started to monitor Balogun's performances as a potential long-term replacement.
AC Milan is also on the hunt for a new striker, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaving the club and Divock Origi struggling to find form. Although Olivier Giroud still leads the attack, at 36 years old, a long-term replacement is needed, with Balogun a viable candidate.
However, it remains to be seen if Arsenal would be willing to sell the young striker as they have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah as striking options, alongside Gabriel Martinelli and Leonardo Trossard who can also lead the line.
Folarin Balogun is expected to have numerous suitors in the summer, and it is unknown whether he would be keen on a move to Serie A, should Inter Milan come calling
